Police are appealing for information after a burglary at a house in Padbury Close, which is in Hilsea, Portsmouth.
Between 9pm on Thursday, December 17 and 8am on Friday, December 18, the house was entered and a number of items stolen.
The offender(s) stole 300 euros in notes, a Tri-Services veterans badge, and two Swarovski glass figurines, both of around an inch in height.
The 77-year-old homeowner was asleep while the burglary took place, and did not hear anything. He noticed something was wrong after waking up and seeing a set of curtains at the back of the lounge had been drawn, when he normally leaves open.
PC Alex Saccoccio said, “Someone broke into this house overnight in order to steal items from this man. The offender closed curtains in the house – did you see or hear anything suspicious or see anyone suspicious in the area of Padbury Close?
“As we get closer to Christmas it’s important for people to remember to continue taking crime prevention measures – close and lock all doors and windows overnight and if you go out. Use timer switches for lights if you are not in and keep keys in safe places.”
Can you help?
