Officers are appealing for information after a burglary at the home of a couple in Bath Road, Lymington.
At some time between 11am on Thursday, September 1 and 8.15am on Sunday, September 4, person(s) had forced entry through a window.
The couple had been away for a few days, and when they returned they found the front door unlocked, and a number of items of silver and jewellery had been stolen, with a combined value of around £1700.
The items are as follows:
- Silver jug with black ribbed neck and later chased body, domed cover with pierced shell, thumbpiece bears hallmark 1751
- Silver salver with Chippendale edgeing, approx 6” in diameter on three feet. It is Hallmarked London 1909. Weight approx 6 oz
- Silver tray in shape of scallop shell with three feet. Approx weight – 31/2 oz. Hallmarked London 1886 with Peel crest of bird
- 4 x silver napkin rings and one silver plated napkin ring with pie crust edging top and bottom
- 8 – 12 piece place setting of silver cutlery and four serving spoons with Peel crest and also Shrubb crest which is a lion on a plinth. There are no knives with this set
- A sterling silver magnifying glass with all over embossed decoration and filled handle
- A gentlemans gold coloured Rolex watch with expanding strap
- A gold broach with small blue stone in centre
- 18 ct white gold cluster ring comprising of five 3.5mm diameter round emeralds set in a row with four round brilliant cut diamonds approx 2mm diameter set above the row of emeralds. All stones are claw set
- 4 ct white gold cluster ring comprising central oval ruby approximately 7mm by 6mm surrounded by diamonds set at shoulder sections with five small brilliant cut diamonds around the top and bottom of the ruby. All stones are claw set
- Aquamarine ring set in silver
- Pearl ring set in a diamond claw
- Gold coloured ring with emerald and diamond surround
- Gold chain with coin medallion
PC Tom Hewitt, investigating the incident, said, “I’d like to speak to any witnesses to this incident, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Bath Road area of Lymington between the dates the home owners were away. The items stolen were all very distinctive and if anyone sees them or knows who may have them, I would also like to speak to them as soon as possible.”
