Police are appealing for information after a burglary at a property in Gurnays Mead, West Wellow, where the offender was disturbed by the occupier.
At around 9.50pm on Sunday, August 9, a man forced entry to a flat in Gurnays Mead via a window, climbing into the bedroom.
Once inside the man searched the room before moving into the living room.
The 88-year-old woman who lives at the address was watching television when the man entered.
She shouted out and the man fled.
The man is described as:
- White
- Aged in his late teens or early 20s
- Short dark hair
- 5ft 6ins or 5ft 7ins tall
- Average build
- Wearing a white t-shirt and dark trousers
- Appeared very clean and well dressed
PC Sandra Hamilton said, “The lady involved in this incident was understandably very shocked and shaken up by someone entering her home. Did you see someone suspicious in the area who matches this description? Or perhaps you saw someone else hanging around at the time of the offence, perhaps acting as a ‘look out’?
