Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident where two men attempted to rob a take away delivery man on London Road, Portsmouth.
At 7.43pm on Tuesday, September 8, the pizza delivery man had parked near to Tesco Express on London Road and was walking to an address close by.
Two men approached the delivery man from behind and were both riding bikes. As they passed by the first man on a bike tried to take the bag containing the pizzas. The delivery man struggled with him briefly and the two men on bikes rode away.
Nothing was stolen, though the pizzas within the bag were damaged during the altercation.
The two men on bikes are described as:
Man 1:
- White
- 5ft 9ins tall
- 20 years old
- Athletic build
- Unshaven
- dark hair that appeared messy
- wearing a white t-shirt with a collar, and desert camouflage combat short
- riding a silver mountain bike
Man 2:
- White
- 5ft 10ins tall
- 20 years old
- Stocky build
- Mousey brown hair
- Wearing a red polo shirt which had black horizontal stripes on, and red football shorts
PC Paul Bongiovanni said, “We believe there may be witnesses to this incident who were in the area at the time. This man was simply trying to get on with his job and was subjected to an unnecessary attack, and if anyone heard or saw anything, or can help identify the two men on bikes, please contact me. Though they did not get away with anything we must stop this type of incident happening again.”
