Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an incident at a flat in Meggeson Avenue, near to Townhill Way, Southampton.

At around 9.55pm on Wednesday, October 5, a 25-year-old man heard banging at his front door.

He saw three men outside his property, all wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, who kicked the door and forced their way in. They hit the man a number of times and demanded jewellery.

One of the men had a weapon, thought to have been a baseball bat.

The commotion caused some of the man’s neighbours to come out and see what was happening. The trio then ran away, having taken nothing.

The man suffered cuts and bruises as a result of the attack and was taken to Southampton General hospital by ambulance for treatment to his injuries.

Detective Constable Chris Moss said, “I’d like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen these men, either at the time of the incident itself, or perhaps earlier in the day, when they may have been in the area. If you see anyone acting suspiciously please report it to the police.”
