People visiting B&Q in Nursling next week will be able to go away armed with more than just their purchases during two crime prevention events at the store.
Between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, June 27 and again on Wednesday, July 1, Crime Prevention Officer Melody Manning will be at the store with local officers to speak to shoppers.
People will be able to get advice on how to take simple steps and avoid becoming victims of many different types of crime; from protecting your house to your belongings, and also yourself and your family.
In addition to this valuable information, there will also be an offer of 10% off on various crime prevention items for sale in the store.
Alongside the stand there will be a shed, which has been provided by B&Q, fitted with various devices so that members of the public can see first hand what is available and how they are used.
Melody said, “We are welcoming anyone along to speak to us about crime prevention matters. This is a busy store which sees people of all ages shopping for anything from professional supplies to tools for DIY, which gives us the ideal opportunity to speak to a large number at once.
“Many crimes are committed by opportunist offenders and could be avoided. For example, a large percentage of burglaries happen in homes where doors and windows are left unlocked or even open, giving thieves an easy entry. By taking just a few simple steps you can greatly increase your safety and protection, which is exactly what we’re here to help you do. We look forward to seeing you!”
Notes to editors: Melody Manning is available for interview in relation to these events; please contact Liz Harding to arrange.
