Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A3090 at Pauncefoot Hill last night.
Between 11.15pm and 11.30pm a red Seat Ibiza was travelling on the northbound carriageway of the A3090 towards Romsey when, for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car crossed the central reservation and the southbound carriageway, where it struck a tree, trapping the driver.
The driver, a 18-year-old Romsey man, suffered serious – but not life threatening – leg injuries and remained trapped in the vehicle for two hours while Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service worked to release him.
Three passengers, a 17-year-old girl from Totton, an 18-year-old girl from Totton and a 17-year-old boy from North Baddesley, suffered minor injuries but were able to get out of the vehicle without assistance.
Anyone with any information regarding the collision, or who saw the vehicle prior to it, is asked to call PC Phil Constable at Totton Roads policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Wadmal.
Alternatively, call the Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
