Operation Till – Police name cyclist who died following Portsmouth collision
Police have named a woman who died following a collision with a bus in Portsmouth.
Judith Hitchings, from Brackley in Northamptonshire, was cycling near Clarence Pier, Southsea, at about 1.15pm on Saturday, when she was in collision with a bus.
The single-decker bus was travelling south on Pier Road near to the roundabout when the collision happened.
The 55-year-old woman was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with life threatening injuries, but sadly died at about 4.30pm.
Neither the bus driver nor any of the passengers were injured in the collision.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the bus or the cyclist prior to the incident.
Police would also like to hear from any of the passengers on the bus – a Stagecoach number 700 – who left the scene before officers could speak with them.
