Officers investigating a hit and run in Gosport last weekend are appealing for a woman who called police with vital information to get back in touch.
The woman called Hampshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number at 9.45am on Thursday (July 7) and spoke to the force control room, giving information to an operator before hanging up.
Police are now appealing for her to get back in touch.
Sgt Andy Lynch from the Road Death Investigation team said: “I’d appeal for this woman to get back in touch as soon as possible as I believe she can help us further our lines of enquiry.
“All our calls are dealt with in the strictest confidence and she can expect the same should she choose to call again.”
At around 11.15pm, last Saturday, July 2, two women crossing Stoke Road were struck by a car heading east towards Spring Garden Lane. One of the women, a 20-year-old from Fareham, suffered what were said to be life threatening injuries, the other, a 19-year-old from Gosport, suffered serious injuries.
One of the women is still in intensive care unit at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
The car, which is described as a small, dark-coloured hatchback vehicle, failed to stop and left the scene driving down Spring Garden Lane.
