Operation Sindon – appeal for information following Basingstoke collision

Police are appealing for information following a serious collision in Basingstoke at 11.20pm on Saturday.

A black Volkswagen Golf was travelling west along The Harrow Way on the approach to its junction with Lister Road when the driver appeared to lose control and veered to centre of road before swerving back to the nearside, mounting the pavement and crossing a verge before striking a tree.

The driver, a 34-year-old man sustained serious injuries which were initially considered life threatening. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he is in a serious but not critical condition.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Chris Maggs of the Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Sindon.
