Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured in a collision outside HMS Collingwood, Fareham.

At around 11.25pm, Wednesday, December 2, the 16-year-old boy was crossing Newgate Lane when he was in collision with a black Hyundai Getz heading south.

The pedestrian suffered life threatening head injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains.

The 71-year-old man driving the Hyundai and his 71-year-old woman passenger, both from Gosport, were uninjured.

The road was closed until around 3.45am to allow for an investigation and recovery of the scene.

PC Faye Cappleman from the Cosham Roads Policing unit said: "This incident occurred close to the time when people would be returning home from an evening out.

“We’re looking to speak with anyone who saw the Hyundai Getz, or the pedestrain around this time, or anyone else with information about what happened.”
