Operation Matterhorn – Woman charged after fatal crash in Southampton
A 48-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal crash in Southampton.
Cheryl Daly, of Holcroft Road, Southampton, has been charged with causing death by careless driving.
The crash happened at about 2.20pm on Wednesday, April 21. Lily Doudic, from Southampton, died after she was hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra car on Bursledon Road, Hightown, Bitterne.
The 86-year-old woman was at the junction near KFC and The Range shop when the Vectra, which was travelling along Burseldon Road, towards the city, was in collision with her.
Unfortunately Lily died at the scene.
The section of road where the accident happened was closed off while officers from the Roads Policing Unit investigated the incident and was re-opened later that day.
The driver of the Vectra was not injured.
