Police have arrested the driver of a car involved in a collision near Ringwood that left a 16-year-old boy in a critical condition.

At around 11.22am on Saturday, September 5, a silver Volvo XC90 was heading north on Harbridge Drove at Plumley when it left the road and collided with a tree.

The 16-year-old front-seat passenger from Downton suffered serious injuries. He remains in a critical but stable condition at Southampton General Hospital.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Verwood, was treated at Salisbury District hospital for less serious injuries.

He was arrested on Tuesday, September 8, on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm. He was bailed to return in late November 2009.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle driving prior to it.
