A 21-year-old soldier remains critically ill in hospital following a crash in Mortimer West End, between Basingstoke and Reading, on Friday. (Oct 1)
The Reading man was driving a red Peugot 206 on Chapel Road when he was involved in a collision with a grey Ford Fiesta.
He then appeared to lose control before striking a second, parked vehicle and crashing into the hallway of a house.
The incident occurred shortly after midday.
Chapel Road and St Catherine’s Hill were closed as crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man who was unconscious in the vehicle.
He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxfordshire where his condition is described as critical but stable.
Both streets remained close for six hours while crash investigators examined the scene.
Police have arrested a 21-year-old Basingstoke woman on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision are asked to contact PC Steve Antrobus at Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 101.
Alternatively call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
