Operation Aurole – witnesses sought after injured cyclist found in road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was found lying on a roundabout with life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after 6pm yesterday on the Wade Road junction at Swing Swang Lane, Basingstoke.

The 50-year-old Hook man was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 35-year-old Basingstoke woman has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to return and driving without due care and attention. She has been bailed until August 13, pending further enquiries.
