Operation Alyssom – driver who died in Thruxton crash named
The family of a man who died after losing control of his car on the old A303 on Tuesday (August 10, 2010) have paid tribute.
Lee Williams, 38, died when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Evolution as he attempted to overtake a Fiat 500 on a sweeping left hand bend shortly before 5pm.
Mr Williams, from Ragged Appleshaw, Andover, collided with a silver VW Polo driven by a 19-year-old women, also from Andover.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paying tribute, Mr Williams’ family said: “Lee was a very special person. He was a most loving and generous person who’s kindness touched all who knew him.
“He was always willing to help and had a smile for everyone. His tragic and untimely loss will leave a gaping hole in all our lives.
“We would ask that the press respect our privacy at this sad time.”
The driver of the Polo was taken to Southampton General Hospital, initially with life threatening injuries but her condition is now stable.
