New Forest residents warned of scam letters
Press Releases
Published:

Police in the New Forest are warning residents to be aware of letters claiming that the recipient is the beneficiary of large sums of money.
A number of residents have contacted police after receiving letters from a man claiming to be a Chinese national who works for a banking corporation in Hong Kong. He claims that the person is heir to a large sum of money and offers to split it with them if they have it deposited in their account in return for making them aware.
Anyone receiving a letter of this kind is urged not to respond and never pass on personal details or bank details.
If you are at all concerned about mail of this kind contact your local officers on 101.
