Motorcyclist Darren King was disqualified from driving at Southampton Magistrates Court today (Feb 14) after pleading guilty to four counts of speeding.
King, 22 of Forster Road Southampton, was given a six-month ban and fines totalling £384 for driving at a speed in excess of 30mph along Maybray King Way.
His offences are:
Driving at 47mph on September 22, 2010
Driving at 39mph on October 5, 2010
Driving at 61mph on October 8, 2010
Driving at 66mph on October 11, 2010
King was riding an Aprilia 125cc motorcycle which had been altered from the manufacturer’s standard paint scheme.
The route was observed on dates following the activations on the fixed safety camera and a mobile camera operator recognised the vehicle and recorded its registration.
PC Mick Gear, Bikesafe coordinator for the Safer Roads Partnership, said: "King was riding dangerously over the speed limit and had he had the misfortune of colliding with another vehicle or pedestrian it would be more than likely he wouldn’t be here today.
"This reckless behaviour endangers the lives of other road users and we will seek to prosecute anyone caught ignoring speed restrictions."
