More CCTV pictures released of man wanted for bank robberies in Southampton

Cycling bank robber1Police in Southampton are today releasing a new set of seven CCTV pictures they have obtained of a man wanted for carrying out two armed robberies in Southampton. Three are shown here.

The new photos also include some where he is not wearing anything in front of his face. Officer hope that will mean someone is able to identify him. They are asking anyone who does to contact them.

The first of the armed robberies happened late afternoon on Thursday, February 19 at the Nationwide Building Society in Portswood Road. He threatened a cashier with a gun and demanded cash. He made off with around £4000.

Cycling bank robber 2In the second incident exactly a week later on Thursday February 26 at 4.50pm a man went in to the Abbey Bank in Bitterne Precinct and again threatened staff with a gun before making off with about £1000. He dropped some of the money on his way out.

In both cases the robber had a very similar description and disguised himself with a scarf over his face. He is said to be around 6ft tall and with a thin face and pointy nose. He Cycling bank robber 3rode to and away from each robbery on a cycle.

Detectives believe it was the same man who committed both robberies and hope by releasing these new CCTV stills someone may come forward who knows who he is.
