Residents are invited to come along and meet their local police officers and PCSOs on a Thursday, as the four Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in Southsea coordinate their beat surgeries.
Beat surgeries are a successful way of getting to speak to people directly for the teams, where they can chat in a relaxed and informal environment, and all the teams are keen to get to know their local communities.
Whether you need your cycle security marked, you’re looking for some crime prevention advice, you want to bring up an issue that requires police attention where you live, or you just want to get to know who patrols your streets, these events provide the ideal opportunity.
There are four surgeries across Southsea on one day, and with all of them happening on a Thursday there’s no need for confusion. The times and locations are as follows:
- St Judes team – Palmerston Road precinct – 11am to 2pm
- Southsea Central team – Lidl’s car park on Goldsmith Avenue – 3.30pm to 5.30pm
- Eastney and Milton teams – Eastney Community Centre – 4pm to 6.30pm
- Southsea Central team – Albert Road (opposite the Kwickimart) – 6.30pm to 9.30pm
The Southsea Central team recently announced the launch of their two surgeries, and with the other teams’ surgeries also now in place it means local people have a number of times and locations to choose from.
Inspector Steve Hutchings, who leads the Southsea Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, said, “Working alongside those who live and work in our communities is such a key part of policing, that we’re really pleased to be able to give them so many opportunities to come and see us. With four different locations and a range of times it means residents can come along at their convenience to talk about what matters to them.
“Beat surgeries are a proven success in community engagement and that’s exactly what we want to continue here in Southsea, so that people know who we are, where we are, and that we’re here to help.”
