Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man was attacked by a group of youth armed with a Stanley knife as he walked home in the Sholing area of the city.
The man was making his way through a wooded area of Millars Pond near to Spring Road at around 4pm on Sunday, June 7, when a man ran past him and blocked his way. He was then hit several times from behind on his head by what he believes were around 3 other men.
The fourth one who had run past him then took out a Stanley knife and the victim received a 3 inch cut to his face. The men then ran off.
He had to have several stitches to his face and also received a substantial amount of bruising during the attack.
The attacker with the knife is described as: White, aged in his early 20s. He was about 5ft 6inches tall and had a skinny muscular build. He had short dark hair and was wearing a cream coloured high necked jacket with dark writing on the back of the collar. He also wore dark jeans.
Officers believe the man was deliberately targeted and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the attack to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call PC Ian Barnes at Bitterne Police Station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
