Man arrested following incident at Southampton General Hospital

Police have made an arrest after a man scaled a 200 foot crane at Southampton General Hospital.   Officers were called by a member of hospital staff at 7pm on Friday, July 10.  

A man, believed to be 22 years old, had climbed a crane outside the Accident and Emergency Department. 

Hampshire Ambulance Service, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene along with police negotiators; specialist public order officers and local officers.

The man safely descended the crane at 8.34pm.

He was arrested and taken to Southampton Central police station.
