Police are making an appeal after an attempted robbery took place as a man was using a cash point at Nationwide in Osborne Road, Southsea.
Between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on Saturday, September 26, a man was using the cash machine when a second man approached him from behind.
The second man attempted to steal the cash card being used and punched the first man, causing a cut below his eye and across the bridge of his nose.
The incident was reported to police by someone who saw the attack take place. The man who was using the cash point, who is described as white and aged in his 50s, has not yet contacted the police himself.
Detective Sergeant Jim Wells said, “We are looking to identify any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact us, but in particular we would like to speak to man who was attacked whilst at the cash machine and find out more about this incident. If you know him or that was you, please contact us as soon as possible.”
A 22-year-old man from Southsea has been arrested and released on bail in relation to this offence, to return on November 27.
