Man arrested after attempted armed robbery in Portsmouth

A man has been arrested after an attempted armed robbery on Saturday, April 18.

Around midday, a man walked into a toy shop on London Road and demanded money from the woman behind the counter.When the woman refused, the man repeated his demand and produced a hand gun.The woman struggled with the man and then called the emergency services.

The man ran from the shop and the woman chased him into the street, before the man ran away.

Detective Sergeant Tony Lewis said, “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard what happened to contact us. There would have been a number of people in the area who may remember seeing the woman chase the man out of the shop, or may have seen the man running away. If you think you can help, please call us as soon as possible.”
