Officers are continuing their enquiries into the death of a woman in Portsmouth.
Police were alerted around 8pm on Monday, April 13, and found the body of the woman inside a property in Wells Close.
A post mortem examination took place yesterday, and further tests are still being carried out.
A formal identification of the woman is taking place later today.
Work will continue at the property where the woman was found, and forensic searches will be carried out today.
The circumstances surrounding the death are still not clear, and officers are following a number of lines of enquiry to establish exactly what happened.
Detective Inspector Darren Rawlings said, “We are treating this tragic death as an isolated incident, and I want to reassure the community that there are a large number of officers working on this investigation, and we are doing everything possible to ensure we uncover the facts and establish how this woman died.”
A 47-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on Monday night and currently remains in police custody.
