Police investigating a robbery in Clarendon Road, Portsea are appealing for information from the public.
In the early hours of Monday April 20 (between midnight and 2.20am) a man was walking along the seafront. Four youths approached him and demanded cash. The 53 year old ignored their demands and walked off into Clarendon Road.
One of the youths followed him and threatened him. He then took the man to a cash point where he handed over £30. The youth then made off.
Later that evening the man went outside of his home to see if he could spot those responsible. He noticed two of the youths from the address-they approached him and one of them hit him in the face.
The youth who demanded the cash is described as:
• 19-21 years old
• 5ft 7-5ft 8 tall
• Slim build
• Short brown hair
The youth who assaulted the man is described as:
• In his 20s
• 5ft 7 tall
• Stocky build
Detective Constable Pete Bambury is investigating: “I’m aware of several incidents along the road during the evening into the early hours, and would like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anythign supsicious. “I’d also like to speak to any residents who may have suffered damage to their property along the road that night or were awoken by noise.”
Two 19 year old men were arrested and were given bail until June 24.
