Police are appealing for information following a robbery in Portsmouth.

At some time between 11.15pm and 11.55pm on Friday, May 22 the 20-year-old victim was walking east along Arundel Street after a night out at Gunwharf Quays.

Whilst crossing the junction of Clifton Street heading towards Fratton Road he was approached by two men. One of the men hit the victim in the face causing him to fall to the ground.

One of the men then searched the victim’s pockets and removed his mobile phone and wallet before running off along Clifton Street.

The offenders made off with a white coloured Sony Ericsson mobile phone and a brown leather wallet contained a NatWest debit card, a student card, a snooker club card, a casino card and £2 in cash.

The victim was left with bruising to his left eye.

He did not requite medical treatment.

The offenders are described as; white, both wearing grey hooded tops and jeans.  One was wearing a dark blue baseball cap under his hooded top.  Both are described as being 6ft or taller.

Detective Sergeant Tony Lewis, said: “I believe that someone in the area may have seen or heard something that could assist the enquiry.

“The incident happened very quickly which shocked the victim.  It is possible that someone who was in the area saw the two offenders before the incident or saw them running away from the scene.

“It is also possible that someone may have found some of the stolen property and I would urge anyone who has located any of this property to contact the police.”
