Identity of man sought by police after racial incident in Portsmouth

Police in Portsmouth are appealing for help from the public to identify a man. It CCTV of man police want to idenitfy re incident at Chichester Stores, Frattonfollows an incident at Chichester Stores in Chichester Road, Fratton on Friday March 20.

At around 6.15pm a man was racially abusive to the shop’s owner, after being asked to take his dog outside of the shop.

Police would like to speak to thef ollowing man as he may have vital information.

The man is described as:

• White

• Large build

• Very tall

• Short brown hair

• Around 20 years old

• Wearing a white, short-sleeved t-shirt with an image of a dog on the front

• He was walking a tan and white Staffordshire bull terrier type dog

PC Allison Fraser who is investigating said: “"This was an unnecessary and vile, racist attack on a shopkeeper. Several people were in the shop at the time and were clearly horrified by what they witnessed."

“It is not acceptable to act in this manner towards anyone from any background, and we deal with incidents of this nature robustly.

“Please contact police if you recognise this man.”
