Have your say on policing in Hawthorn Meadows

People in part of East Cowes on the Isle of Wight are being invited to have their say on the latest issues that matter most where they live.
The local Safer Neighbourhoods team is taking its mobile police office to East Cowes Vics football club to meet residents from Hawthorn Meadows.
Police are supporting housing association Spectrum Medina and Isle of Wight Council in combined community efforts for the future of East Cowes.
The event takes place on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 between 12pm and 4pm in the car park of East Cowes Vics football club off Beatrice Avenue.
Members of the public will have opportunities to give their views and ask questions about policing in Hawthorn Meadows.
Support for crime prevention techniques will be available, including security wrapping for bicycles, and advice on how to protect your home. Hampshire Constabulary is reinforcing its work to stop and catch burglars during Operation Nemesis this autumn and winter.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Steve Anker of the East Cowes Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “The team strives to maintain an active presence in every community by patrolling the areas where residents report their most important issues. Police rely on timely information from the public so we’re always keen to support ways for people to tell us what crimes and problems we should be tackling.
“Police carry out regular house-to-house ‘street mapping’ surveys of people’s views, and we have created a Local Action Group for community representatives to set the policing priorities for East Cowes. We’re grateful to Spectrum Medina and Isle of Wight Council for this extra opportunity to ensure police are accessible to the residents we serve.
“Crime in East Cowes has fallen by 22 per cent since April 2011, compared to the same six months last year, but we’re never complacent, and the public’s ongoing support is vital to keep crime down. I hope as many people as possible on Hawthorn Meadows can find time to meet us on November 16. We look forward to speaking with you about your issues and priorities for us.”
