A convicted drug trafficker from Farnborough has had more than £30,000 confiscated through the Proceeds of Crime Act.
In a hearing at Winchester Crown Court on Monday, 14 February Judge Cutler granted the confiscation of £34,225 from Heath Culshaw, who pleaded guilty for possession with the intent to supply a Class A drugs and fraud by false representation in November 2009; the 43 year old was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
Hampshire Constabulary’s Financial Investigation Unit worked to establish the total sum of benefit Culshaw gained from his criminal activity which came to £215,038. The hearing last week was for the order of £34,225, the sum of assets and cash available to be seized from Culshaw at present. This amount was made up from an apartment in Bulgaria, a farmhouse in Hungary and cash in bank accounts in Goa, Thailand as well as the cash seized from him on arrest.
DI Dave Brown of Hampshire Constabulary’s Financial Investigation Unit said “ Hampshire Constabulary are committed to taking the benefit out of crime, this particular case demonstrates that no matter where in the world that benefit is being enjoyed it should never be considered as safe.”
