Elderly man seriously injured in New Milton crash
Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was seriously injured in a crash in New Milton this morning. (August 31, 2010)
The 85-year-old had left a local care home to walk to nearby shops. He was returning from the shops when he was in collision with a blue Nissan Primera shortly before 8am.
The incident occurred along Lymington Road on the junction with Old Milton Road.
The elderly man received serious head injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver, a 73-year-old man from Wimborne, Dorset, was uninjured.
Any witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw either the elderly pedestrian or the vehicle prior to the collision are asked to contact the Totton Roads Policing Unit.
