Elderly man robbed of money in Portsmouth-police appeal for information

Police in Portsmouth are investigating after a 79 year old man was robbed of £30 and a bus pass.

It happened at 8pm on Tuesday June 2 as the man was walking home from the Market House Tavern on Mile End Road. As he walked along Grafton Street, three young men attacked him-kicking and punching him before stealing his cash and bus pass.

The man, who is from North End, suffered bruising to his legs ribs and shoulder.

Detective Constable Toby Wilson who is investigating said: “These young men acted in a cowardly manner picking on someone vulnerable, unable to defend himself.

“He has only just been able to report this to us after staggering home with his injuries.“If anyone saw what happened or knows who is responsible, please contact police.”
