Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was seriously assaulted and robbed in Basingstoke.

Shortly before 3pm on Saturday, October 29, a 27-year-old man had arranged to meet someone near the Buckland Parade shops in Buckland Avenue in order to buy a car.

He was waiting at the front of the shops with his pregnant girlfriend when he was approached a man. He then walked behind the shops with the man. He was then assaulted – stabbed once in the stomach and once in the leg and robbed of the large sum of money he had with him to pay for the car.

The victim was taken to Basingstoke hospital for treatment.  His girlfriend was not injured during the incident.

A group of three men was seen running away from the scene along High Drive towards Pinkerton Road shortly after the incident. They were all wearing hooded tops and / or tracksuits.

Detective Constable Andy Panter said: “This was a serious incident where a man was stabbed.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a disturbance or saw three men running towards Pinkerton Road.”
