Detectives in Basingstoke are looking for two males and a female after a man was hit over the head at his home in Foyle Park, Basingstoke, in what police believe was a targeted attack.

The 73-year-old answered a call at his door at around 9.15pm on Friday February 28 and was confronted by the group who demanded money.

When he opened the door he was immidiately struck on the head with an implement. The offenders then demanded money and car keys.  The assailants made off with a quantity of cash and the his grey Nissan Primera car, index no DE53 LUD.

The injury the victim suffered was serious and he is currently receiving medical treatment at the North Hampshire Hospital where he was taken by ambulance.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the two males and the female in the area leading up to the attack, or possibly saw them make off in the car afterwards.   They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle since.

Dertective Inspector Mark Bramah who is leading the investigation said: “This was a brutal attack on a pensioner in his own home.  He received a serious injury. This is a cowardly crime against a vulnerable person in his own home.  I believe the victim  was targeted by this group and someone must have information that will lead us to them.  We appeal as a matter of urgency that anyone with information contact us”
