Detectives from Portsmouth’s new serious sexual assault investigation unit, the Crystal Unit, have charged a man with attempted rape.
Joe Dickinson, 32, of Foster Road, Portsmouth is due before South East Hampshire Magistrates on September 24. It follows an incident at an address in Portsea, Portsmouth on Monday September 22.
The Crystal Unit is a new unit which deals solely with serious sexual assaults. It is a pilot project funded by the Home Office for six months, in order to improve outcomes, conviction rates and survivor satisfaction.
