Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an incident in Bishops Green late in the evening on Thursday, January 28.
At around 11.30pm, a 21-year-old man was driving his Vauxhall Astra along the A339 near to the Tesco retail park in Newbury.
Another car followed him into Eagle Road and then activated a blue flashing light that was mounted on the front window.
The driver of the Astra pulled over and exited his vehicle. Two men wearing balaclavas then got out of the second vehicle and stole the Astra.
Both vehicles were driven off towards the A339.
The first man was of stocky build and around 5ft 11ins tall. The second man was slightly taller.
Detective Constable Jon Swift, of Basingstoke CID, said: “Although this incident happened late at night someone may have been driving in the area at the time and seen something.
“We would ask anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
Hampshire Constabulary offers the following advice:
- Be aware of what people are doing around you
- If you are stopped by police who are not in uniform remain in your car and request to see identification.
- If you are being followed and flashed to pull over by an unmarked car and are unsure then make them aware that you have seen them and drive to the nearest busy place, such as a petrol station etc.
- If you have hands free in your car you could phone the police to check. Or get your passenger to do so, if you have one.
Can you help?
