Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information after a young girl was approached and grabbed by a man as she walked home from school.
The 11-year-old was walking along Falkland Road in Popley at about 4.30pm on Monday, December 5, when she was approached by a dark-coloured car, possibly blue, which had two men inside. One of the men got out of the car, approached the girl and grabbed her wrist.
Fortunately she managed to run away and was not injured as a result. It is believed one of the men was white and the other may have been Asian.
Detective Constable Jo Blanchard said: “This is an unusual incident and we don’t want to frighten people.
“However, we do need to hear from anyone who saw a large dark-blue car in the Falkland Road area on Monday afternoon or anyone who witnessed the incident itself.”
Reassurance patrols have been and continue to be conducted in the Popley area.
