Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old was robbed in an alleyway off Eastrop Lane near to the YMCA in the town.
On Saturday, July 30, between 7.15pm and 7.30pm, the young man was walking along the alleyway when he was approached by a group of other male teenagers.
One teenager repeatedly asked for money from the victim and when the victim refused and began to walk away, the boy grabbed the strap of a bag he was carrying. The victim eventually managed to pull away and ran off to a friend’s house. However, he discovered that a t-shirt and about £20 in cash had been stolen.
The boy who grabbed the bag is described as white, aged about 16, about 5ft 7ins tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a light-grey woollen beanie hat, a blue hooded top and dark-coloured jogging bottoms. He was clean shaven and had a local accent.
The other offenders are all described as similar to the main offender and one was wearing a pair of Nike 6.0 trainers.
Detective Constable Drew Wright said: “Eastrop Lane is usually busy at this time of day and while some witnesses have already come forward, I am sure there are other people who would have been in the area at the time.
“Thankfully the victim was not injured in this incident, but I would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or a large group of teenagers running away to contact me.”
