Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a bank in Farnborough.
Between 10pm and 10.25pm on Monday, January 9, two men who were wearing balaclavas, robbed two security guards from Group 4 Security, who were delivering cash to the Farnborough branch of Santander in Eastmead.
One of the offenders was armed with a sledgehammer and the other offender had another weapon. There were no firearms involved. One of the security guards was assaulted by one of the offenders.
The offenders made off with a quantity of cash in what is believed to be a white Vauxhall car.
Detectives believe this car may have been in collision with or had a near miss with a white Audi car as it was leaving the car park outside Santander.
The bank is also near to a taxi rank and the bus station, so there may have been people around at the time of the incident who saw something suspicious or the vehicles described.
Detective Inspector Tim Ireson said: “I would like to reassure residents and local businesses that this is an unusual incident for the Farnborough area and my team of officers are working hard to find out who is responsible.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time or saw any suspicious vehicles, possibly a white Vauxhall car, to contact me as soon as possible. I would also like to appeal directly to the driver of the white Audi to contact me, as they may have vital information about this incident.
“No matter how insignificant you think your information is, it could really help with this investigation.”
