Detectives in Aldershot are appealing for witnesses and information following an armed robbery in the town earlier today (October 7).
Shortly before midday a man, wearing a balaclava, approached a service desk at Deane Wood scrap metal dealer in Stubbs Industrial Estate, Hollybush Lane, Aldershot and threatened the cashier with a weapon demanding she hand over money.
The man managed to grab a cash box and then ran into a waiting blue Vauxhall Vectra.
Shortly after, the Vectra was found on fire in a wooded area in Lock Road, Aldershot.
It is believed that the occupants of the Vectra left the scene in another vehicle but it is not known what type or colour this was.
Detective Sergeant Rob Brocklehurst said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who noticed the Vauxhall Vectra today particularly in the area of Hollybush Lane or Lock Road.
"The canal towpath running from Ash Lock to Lock Road is very popular with runners, walkers and fishermen and we would appeal to anyone in this area who saw anything suspicious to contact us."
