Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after a 17-year-old boy was assaulted.

The boy was walking through the underpass on Hatch Warren Lane near Beethoven Road, at about 9pm on Friday, January 6, when the incident occurred.

He was assaulted by a man described as white, aged between 35-40, about 5ft 10ins tall and of a chubby build. He was bald and had stubble on his face. He was wearing blue jeans, white trainers and a black jacket.

Fortunately the teenager was not injured.

Detective Constable Simon Quickfall said: “This is a busy road with a park nearby which is regularly used by dog walkers so someone may have seen something.

“The underpass is well used and there is a layby near it which is also used by taxi drivers.

“I would like to hear from anyone who used this underpass around the time of this incident or who saw a man matching this description in the area.”
