Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after tens of thousands of pounds worth of vehicles and equipment was stolen from businesses in Sherfield on Loddon.

Some time overnight on Wednesday, February 1 into Thursday, February 2, offenders broke into a compound which houses several small businesses in Wildmoor Lane.

Containers belonging to Dexlia Motor Company were broken into and keys to several cars stolen. The cars – a blue BMW 530, blue BMW 520, a blue Land Rover Discovery, and a green Volvo XC90 – were then stolen. Various tools and a digital cameral were also taken.

An office which is used by Strong Landscapes was also broken into and various items stolen. Two containers belonging to Strong Landscapes were also broken into a various tools, including drills, saws, a breaker, strimmer and hedge trimmer, were stolen. Two Ivor Williams trailers used by the company, one worth almost £4,000, were also taken.

A JCB digger worth £4,000, belonging to Berry Fencing, which was parked in the compound, was also stolen.

Detective Constable Natalie Stallworthy said: “A large number of items worth a significant amount of money have been stolen and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard any disturbance at the compound.

“It would have taken some time to move all these tools, machinery and vehicles so someone must have seen something suspicious going on. If you know anything, even if you think it’s not significant, please contact me.

“Those affected are mainly small companies which now face an uncertain future because much of their equipment or stock has been stolen.”
