Deputy Chief Constable Simon Cole to leave Hampshire Constabulary

Press Releases

Published: 27/04/2010

Hampshire Constabulary’s Deputy Chief Constable Simon Cole has been appointed as Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary.

Mr Cole, 43, joined Hampshire as Assistant Chief Constable in 2003 and was promoted to DCC in 2008.

During his time with the force, he has taken the constabulary forward in many areas, including the introduction of Safer Neighbourhoods teams, his work on Information and Communication Technology collaboration with Thames Valley Police, and overseeing last year's force performance.

The move to Leicester will be a return home for Mr Cole, who began his career with West Midlands Police in 1988.

“I am really excited to be offered the opportunity to be a chief constable in the area from which my family hails,” said Mr Cole.

“Hampshire remains a wonderful place to live and work, and while  I’m thrilled at my successful appointment, I will be very sad to leave this force and the great people that it has been a privilege to work with.”

Chief Constable Alex Marshall said: “I am delighted for Simon. Leicestershire are getting themselves a top quality chief constable, and I will be sad to see him go.”

No date has yet been confirmed for Mr Cole to commence his new role.
