Crack House Closure Order granted on Farnborough property

Police have officially closed a property in Farnborough after a Crack House Closure Order was granted by magistrates.

On Wednesday, November 23, Aldershot Magistrates issued a closure order against 28c Perring Avenue in Farnborough, under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003. The order means that no-one can enter the property for three months, and during this time, it is a criminal offence for anyone to enter the address unless authorised by police.

PC Dave Woods, the Safer Streets Field Officer, said: “Following the execution of a search warrant at 28c Perring Avenue, the subsequent arrest of a resident and a visitor, and a search of the address, we discovered evidence of Class A drug use linked to the property.

“We also had complaints from residents about the suspected drug dealing activity involving the property and this information enabled us to apply for a Crack House Closure Order.

“We work hard to tackle the issues that are important to the community and we have robust procedures in place to identify and deal with issues swiftly. We rely on residents to tell us what is happening so we can take action to deal with the problem and make the area safer.”

Andrew Lloyd, Chief Executive of Rushmoor Borough Council and Chairman of the Rushmoor Community Safety Partnership, said: “This should send out a very clear message that we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour.  We firmly believe that people have the right to live peaceful lives without disruption from their neighbours.

“We hope in taking this collective action, we can restore a sense of normality to those residents affected by this drug house and the activities associated with it. If anyone is experiencing similar problems, we would urge them to contact the police, so that together, we can take action."

Anyone with information should contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods team in confidence on 101. Information can be left anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
