Paulsgrove residents will see improvements to their local area with a series of Crime Reduction and Environment Days (CREDs) set to take place this week.
The police, fire service, community wardens and other council workers are all getting together and carrying out work in the local area around the chalk pits in Paulsgrove which is aimed to create better neighbourhoods for local people to live and work in.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Community Wardens will be doing a letter drop to houses in the local area, which contains fire safety advice to help protect residents and their properties.
On Thursday there will be a litter pick event, and bulk waste will be cleared from the rear of Butterfly Drive and Rockrose Way.
On Friday work will continue clearing the remaining bulk waste, and unpaid workers will also be involved in clearing waste from the chalk pit area itself.
Sergeant Sean Duffy, from the Paulsgrove Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said, “This week there will be a lot of work going on in areas that need a bit of regeneration. We want to help the community maintain the areas they live and work in for their long term benefit, and that’s why days like this are so important. It’s also an excellent opportunity for the unpaid workers to give something back to local people in the city.”
Station Manager Dave Smith for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Although these CREDs only last for four days, with the help of local people the results can be felt for months. We are very pleased to be working in partnership with the police and council to improve the environment, target offenders and put in place crime prevention techniques to help local people feel safer."
