Attempted theft of lead from Basingstoke bandstand

Police are appealing for information following an attempt to steal lead from the roof of the bandstand in the War Memorial Park in Basingstoke on Thursday, December 29.

The incident occurred at around 9.50pm on December 29. Police received a report of noise coming from the park near the bandstand. On attending officers found ladders and stripped lead near the bandstand.

A large amount of lead had been removed from the roof but was recovered at the scene but this has caused considerable damage to the bandstand.
