Appeal to locate man in Southampton

Press Releases

Published: 09/09/2011

Officers investigating a series of burglaries in Southampton are asking for the public’s help in locating a man they wish to speak to.

The man is described as:

  • 6ft tall
  • Medium build
  • Dark brown hair, which is medium length and unkempt
  • Green eyes
  • A beard that is ‘bushy’ in appearance• Last seen (Sept 8) wearing a dark top, blue jeans and a black rucksack

Detective Sergeant Andy Hedley said, “There have been a number of burglaries in the Polygon area of the city and we believe this man may be able to assist us with our enquiries. Witnesses have given this description of a man being in the vicinity of the incident on a number of occasions and we believe it is the same man, who may have information of some importance.

“The information we have suggests that he has no current fixed residence and has been staying at various addresses, and may target unoccupied properties in the Polygon area to find places to sleep. I would ask that anyone who sees this man or may know who he is or where he is staying should contact us as soon as possible, and I would specifically advise that landlords and tenants in the area ensure their properties are properly secured while unoccupied.”

The incidents being investigated are as follows:

  • July 31, burglary in Milton Road
  • Overnight, August 11-12, burglary in Milton Road
  • September 9, attempted burglary in Berkeley Road

Anyone who recognises the description of this man, or who has any information about the incidents mentioned, should contact police at Southampton Central police station on 101, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
