Police in Winchester are appealing for information after a burglary was reported.

A resident of Greenhill Road contacted officers after she disturbed a man in her garage. This happened between 11.10 and 11.20pm on Saturday January 7.

When the resident challenged the man he calmly walked off along the driveway, where he was joined by two other people.

Nothing was taken but a lock to a garage was later found to be broken.

The man is described as:

  • White
  • In his 20s
  • Around 6ft tall
  • Bulky build
  • Wearing a dark, woollen hat and a dark jacket

Detective Constable Craig Rainsley is investigating: “Did you see anyone fitting this description in the area at the time? Please report anyone you think is acting suspiciously to us.

“In addition, I’d like to remind residents to keep homes, vehicles and garages secure at all times. Opportunist criminals will often try doors of homes or vehicles to take advantage of easy access.”

Crime ref: 44120010838
