Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in South Wonston, Winchester on Tuesday, December 20.
The incident occurred at some time between 10am and 6.45pm on Tuesday, December 20 at a house in Orchard Road, South Wonston.
A black leather jewellery box containing necklaces, rings and earrings was stolen from an upstairs bedroom.
PC Emma Purser said: “I would like to remind homeowners leaving their properties for any length of time of a couple of crime prevention tips:
- Shut all windows and lock them when you are not using the room, at night and when you leave your property.
- Lock all front and rear doors at night and when you are out. If you have a UPVC door with a multi-point lock ensure you lift the handle and lock it with the key.
- Ensure all car keys and other keys are out of sight and not in reach of windows and letterboxes. It doesn't take much for the keys to be hooked through the letterbox.
“I would appeal for anyone who has information about this burglary to contact us assoon as possible. Some of the stolen items are of sentimental value and we are keen tolocate them.”
