Alcohol related violence

On a typical Friday and Saturday night up to three quarters of all A&E attendances are as a result of alcohol and nearly one third of all deaths that are a result of alcohol are from injuries sustained while drunk.

Have a look at our advice to ensure you dont become a victim of violence when out drinking.

Cross the line and it's rape

Seal the deal

Did you know that almost half of all reported rapes involve two people who know each other? A new campaign launched by Hampshire Constabulary is helping to raise awareness among young men, to make sure they don’t cross the line.

Honour Based Violence campaign - Summer 2011Image of a woman holding her head in her hands

Honour based violence is defined as 'a crime or incident, which has or may have been committed to protect or defend the honour of the family and/or community'. Cases of forced marriage or female genital mutilation are both forms of HBV, and are often organised prior to the summer holidays.

The focus of this campaign is on children and young people who go missing from school around this time, or do not return in the new term. Local authorities and the police are working together collectively to respond to local issues; providing training to raise awareness of HBV, provide an understanding of the background and nature of the subject and, importantly, provide information on what to do with cases or suspected cases of HBV.

FAKE (Firearms and Knife Education) programme

Almost 70 per cent of all incidents Hampshire Constabulary's firearms officers attend involve knives and imitation firearrms.

The FAKE team have now presented to over 50,000 young people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
